Held one in my hand...and it finally felt real

Updated: Apr 30, 2021

It was a strange few days of limbo last week between the official release date of 'What You Missed' (31/03) to when the book finally started to arrive through peoples letter boxes. A combination of a delay at the printers and the bank holiday meant that most of the books didn't head out the door until Tuesday, with many of my friends sending me their email notifications from Stour Valley Publishing (SVP) only adding to my anxious excitement as I'd not held a physical copy in my own hands yet. Head honcho at SVP Carl Mynott sent me a photo of my books being packaged up ready to head which calmed the anxious part of my excitement a little.

As the book landed on Thursday I began to receive messages from friends, post notifications and links to tags on facebook. I don't think I've spent that much time on social media ever, reposting, thanking, answering questions, it was both exciting and truly humbling. When a box of them finally arrived at my house early afternoon and I held one in my hand...it finally felt real. It looks and feels exactly as I'd imagined it. I can't thank all those involved enough; from Carl at SVP, to James North for the cover shot and my old friend (illustration wizard) Matt Frodsham for the titles and cover design.

Above all, I'd like to thank everyone who has bought the book, it means so much to know it's out there. I've received some lovely messages and have hopefully replied to everybody, if not, give me a nudge. Thank you thank you thank you (I really can't say it enough).

PS. If you haven't picked up a copy yet, you can get it exclusively from www.shookbop.com
